Pokémon Summer Mac starts July 15 with McNuggets Pokémon packaging

McDonald’s Japan has published its official Pokémon Summer Mac campaign pages. The campaign ties Pokémon-themed food packaging to an in-game Pokémon GO store route in Japan.

McNuggets 15-piece starts July 15 at 490 yen

McDonald’s Japan’s official summer nuggets page lists the Chicken McNuggets 15-piece campaign from July 15 through August 11, priced at 490 yen for the campaign period. The regular price starts at 740 yen.

The box uses a Pokémon design package. According to the official page and GAME Watch’s report, partner Pokémon including Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle appear across the package sides.

Two limited sauces join the box

The two limited-time sauces are cheese curry sauce and umami salt garlic sauce. The 15-piece set includes three sauces.

Additional sauces can be purchased from the fourth sauce onward for the 15-piece box, starting at 50 yen each. McDonald’s notes that limited sauces end when stock runs out.

Stores become Pokémon GO PokéStops from July 20

The official special page says roughly 3,000 McDonald’s Japan stores are scheduled to appear as PokéStops in Pokémon GO from July 20 to September 1.

That makes the campaign useful for both Pokémon packaging collectors and Pokémon GO players in Japan. The same official page also includes safety cautions: do not play while walking, do not play in parking areas, and follow public rules.
