- The Shimashima Disk System GB/GB-compatible cartridge has arrived at Kaden no Kenchan in Akihabara.
- The product page lists it at ¥5,500, with a ¥1,000 rewrite service at events where Shimashima Games appears.
- The appeal is not only the cartridge itself, but the idea of treating a retro cart like a rewriteable event medium.

Snackgirls editorial note
Nea: This is more interesting than a normal GB homebrew cart. The event-based rewrite mechanic makes it feel like a tiny physical platform.
Red: The practical check is price, rewrite conditions, supported hardware and purchase limits. The store also flags it as an individual creator-made item, not a standard licensed product.
Akihabara retro shop Kaden no Kenchan has listed the Shimashima Disk System, a GB/GB-compatible cartridge. Read together with AKIBA PC Hotline!’s report, the hook is clear: this is a small cartridge that can be rewritten with Shimashima Games titles at creator events.
The listed price is ¥5,500, with GB and Analogue Pocket support noted
Kaden no Kenchan lists the cartridge at ¥5,500. The product description says the package includes the cartridge, a soft case and a booklet.
The page also notes compatibility with original GB hardware and Analogue Pocket, Japanese language, all-ages content, 2026 production and GB Studio development. It still warns that operation is not guaranteed on every original or compatible unit.

The real hook is the ¥1,000 rewrite service
The most distinctive part is the rewrite system. The product page describes it as a raw cartridge for Shimashima Games’ original titles, with rewrites available for ¥1,000 at exhibitions, doujin sales events and other places where the creator is present.
That means the cartridge already includes a mini-game when purchased, but can later change into another creator-side title at supported events. The comparison to an old disk system is the fun part: it is physical, but not entirely fixed.

Buyers should treat it as a creator-made niche item
The store page asks buyers to confirm several caveats: it is not a mass-market product, support is not provided in the same way as a normal retail release, compatible hardware behavior may vary, and international shipping is not offered.
Near-term rewrite events listed on the product page include COMITIA157, Game Legacy in Tokyo vol.3 and DREAMSCAPE5. For retro-game fans, the best way to view it is a changing event-linked cartridge, not just a shelf item.
