Pokémon moves and real athlete techniques will meet at the Japan Olympic Museum this autumn. The Pokémon and Athletes Moves exhibition runs from September 19 through November 23 in the museum’s 1F Welcome Salon in Shinjuku, Tokyo, offering a playful route into the skills used in sport.
From Pokémon moves to athlete techniques
The exhibition compares Pokémon moves with techniques performed by athletes. Visitors can also explore touch and experience elements involving items used in competition. The Japanese Olympic Committee is organizing the event with cooperation from The Pokémon Company.
Meet the 59 support Pokémon
Pokémon has become a JOC Kids Sports Ambassador, and 59 support Pokémon have been selected based on Team Japan’s competitions and categories for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. A separate Pokémon Sports Park website presents a park-style route for discovering these Pokémon and learning about both sports and Pokémon.
A free first-floor visit and Pikachu quiz rally
Admission to the exhibition is free, and the museum’s 1F exhibition area will be open without charge during the event. Standard admission is still required for the 2F exhibition floor. A quiz rally with Pikachu is also planned, with an original certificate-design sticker available to participants who answer the quiz while booklets and prizes last.
