BANDAI SPIRITS has released Plannosaurus Archelon, a non-scale plastic model priced at ¥1,760 including tax and intended for ages 6 and up. The kit turns the creature’s anatomy into part of the building experience, making it approachable for newcomers while leaving room for an expressive swimming display.
Meet the Late Cretaceous giant
Archelon lived during the Late Cretaceous and is described on the official product page as the largest known turtle. Its shell was specially lightened, an adaptation described as preventing its huge body from being crushed under its own weight.
Build the skeleton, then add the skin
The kit begins with the Skeleton Build stage, exposing Archelon’s underlying structure. Outer-skin parts are then attached during the Dinosaur Build stage to restore its complete form. Touch-gate runners and snap-fit assembly allow it to be built without nippers or cement.
Shape a swimming pose
The mouth opens and closes, while the neck, limbs, and tail can all be repositioned. One sticker sheet and one base are included, with the clear-blue sea-themed base providing a setting for the finished model’s swimming silhouette.
