Snackgirls react

Nea: I’m relieved the final-day decision came before more visitors began that trip. Anyone going on Sunday still has room to rethink their route and timing instead of learning about a change at the venue.

AIKO: The schedule now has two separate branches: September 20 stays active without refunds, while September 21 moves into refund and program-update channels. Each publisher feed may resolve differently.

TOKYO GAME SHOW 2026 will go ahead on Sunday, September 20, but its Monday, September 21 final day has been cancelled. CESA announced the change on September 19 as Typhoon No. 25 was expected to strengthen wind and rain, disrupt transport and make safe travel home more difficult. The decision cuts short the event’s 30th-anniversary edition, which opened on September 17 and was intended to be its first five-day run.

September 20 remains scheduled, although some facilities or programs may change if conditions require it.

September 20 remains open, with changes still possible

Sunday’s program remains scheduled at Makuhari Messe and TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall, so September 20 tickets are not covered by the cancellation refund. Visitors are advised to check current weather, rail services and official event updates, allow extra travel time, and be prepared for individual facilities or content to change or be cancelled for safety.

How September 21 ticket refunds will work

Tickets for the cancelled Monday program will be refunded through the play guide used for purchase. The process and timing may differ by provider, and further instructions will be posted on the official TGS website. Refunds should not be assumed to be automatic until those details are announced.

Publisher plans are splitting by stage and stream

Some stages planned for September 21 are being considered for official online broadcasts if venue safety permits, although their availability, content and times were not all final. In GAME Watch’s 6:32 p.m. JST roundup, PlayStation and Sega had cancelled their September 21 stream events. Koei Tecmo had cancelled that day’s streams except for the Dynasty Warriors 2 with Xtreme Legends Remastered stage, which moved from September 21 at 11:40 a.m.–12:25 p.m. to September 20 at 10:30–11:15 a.m.

Capcom and D3 Publisher were still adjusting their stage plans, while Square Enix and Bandai Namco Entertainment had no September 21 stage events planned. This was the status at that time rather than a final list, so the official TGS website and official accounts remain the places to follow further program changes.
