A stowaway voyage from San Francisco
The story opens in 1915 with Daito, born to an American and a Japanese parent, stowing away aboard a ship bound for Japan. There he meets fellow passenger Mashiro and Orpheus, a merchant and captain portrayed by Snoop Dogg.
The singers joining the cast
Tori Kelly portrays Susie Day, an aspiring singer, while Ado portrays Keiko Shirai, a singer in wartime Osaka. Daito’s story stretches across five cities and five eras over about 50 years.
