SNACK: 3-line summary
- Gears of War: E-Day full-game early access began October 1 at 15:00 UTC.
- Premium Edition owners and Game Pass subscribers with the Premium Upgrade qualify; a subscription alone does not.
- The standard worldwide launch follows October 6 at 15:00 UTC on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Steam.
Gears of War: E-Day’s full-game early access is underway, but a Game Pass subscription alone won’t unlock it. The new launch gameplay trailer pairs the action with Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls.”
Who can start playing now?
Premium Edition owners can join the early-access window, as can Game Pass subscribers who have the Premium Upgrade.
Early access opened October 1, 2026 at 15:00 UTC (08:00 PT). The standard worldwide launch follows October 6 at 15:00 UTC (08:00 PT), so access remains limited to those eligible players until then.
Snackgirls react
Red: Metallica over a gameplay trailer? That’s going straight on my watchlist. Then I want a turn at the controls.
Nea: I’m curious why they chose that song for E-Day. I’d like to watch how the music fits the gameplay.
Console, PC and cloud options
The game is available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Steam. Cloud play is also listed through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW, subject to each service’s access requirements and regional availability.
