Red When a car sweeps through a corner, where will that passing engine sound seem to come from? I want to hear that in Atmos.
Nea I’m curious how team radio and commentary will sit alongside the engines. The voices are the part I’d want to follow closely.
Engines, radio and commentary in the spatial mix
Dolby describes a planned mix encompassing team radio, race commentary, engine sounds, on-track battles and pit-lane activity. These are the sounds the company plans to bring into the Atmos presentation; how they fit together will be something to listen for when coverage begins.
Dolby Atmos handles spatial audio, while Dolby Vision handles the HDR picture. Apple TV’s F1 coverage has already offered 4K with Dolby Vision since the start of the season, so the upcoming addition is on the sound side.
Check the subscription as well as the sound system
Watching this F1 coverage requires a US Apple TV subscription. Dolby says the presentation will be available through the Apple TV app on supported Apple devices and compatible Dolby-enabled TVs, soundbars and home theater systems.
Before planning an Atmos setup, check support across the app, playback device, TV and audio equipment you intend to use. An Atmos-compatible soundbar alone does not provide access to the US broadcast.
