Snackgirls react

Nea: I’d like to take my time with the dog-manga storyboards. I’m curious how the dogs’ personalities come through before the finished artwork.

Kirari: The white WEED shirt catches my eye. I’d want the WEED plush keychain beside it for a little merch photo.

A look at the manga before the finished pages

The exhibition features rough storyboards—the layouts used to develop manga pages—alongside hard-to-find older Ginga merchandise and a photo spot. It marks Takahashi’s 55-year career, 50 years since the publication of Shiroi Senshi Yamato, and the release of his dog-manga art book.

Before the pop-up opened, Takahashi, Tetsuo Hara, Buronson and Dohatsuten vocalist Naozumi Masuko attended a reception on October 9. Panels signed at that reception are on display during the event.

Artwork reproductions with Takahashi’s handwritten signature

The signed artwork is offered as reproductions, not unique original drawings. The announcement lists a price of ¥45,000 before tax, plus shipping; the official store lists the tax-inclusive price as ¥49,500, with shipping charged separately. Ordering details are available at the venue and on the store’s product pages.

Dohatsuten performed both the opening and ending themes for the 2005 anime Ginga Densetsu WEED. Its collaboration T-shirts include white and black WEED designs in L and XL, priced at ¥9,900 including tax.

Plush keychains of WEED, Gin and Akakabuto are ¥3,800 each, including tax. Official online sales began on October 10 at 11:00 JST. Items may sell out; sold-out products may return if stock becomes available, but restocks are not guaranteed.
