Tomie and Souichi go chibi for Junji Ito Maniac’s Tower Records pop-up

SNACK: 3-line summary

  • Junji Ito Maniac’s Tower Records pop-up will pair new Tomie and Souichi chibi goods with original manga artwork.
  • Individual chibi packs are random, while Tower Records Online will sell trading items by the BOX only.
  • The two event stores offer postcard bonuses; specific online badge BOX purchases come with different extras.

Tomie and Souichi are getting small, stylized chibi designs for Junji Ito Maniac POP UP SHOP in TOWER RECORDS, running November 5–15, 2026. Their compact forms will sit alongside the original manga’s detailed horror artwork in the advance-sale lineup.

Snackgirls react

Kirari: My eyes go straight to the black shirts! With that big TOMIE lettering and tangled hair-and-face print, I’d keep the rest of the outfit simple.

Nea: I would like to set the small Souichi stand beside his manga panels. I’m curious whether those softer proportions make the original expression feel even more unsettling.

Small characters, still unsettling

The 12 new merchandise types include nine using original manga panels or illustrations and three featuring newly created chibi artwork. The chibi range consists of glitter badges, acrylic stands and mini die-cut stickers, each with 10 designs.

Bright backgrounds frame the badge designs, while the acrylic stands place the characters on labeled oval bases. All three chibi products are random assortments: individual packs do not let you choose a design, while an unopened BOX contains the full 10-design lineup for that product.

Tomie’s manga artwork takes over black T-shirts

The three black BIG silhouette T-shirts feature large TOMIE lettering, seated Tomie artwork and elaborate hair-and-face compositions. They are offered only in unisex M, L and XL. The four mouse-pad designs also use original manga artwork, paired with English story titles.

Item Price, including tax
Chibi glitter badge Single: ¥605 / BOX: ¥6,050
Chibi acrylic stand Single: ¥880 / BOX: ¥8,800
Manga-panel mouse pad ¥1,980 each
Manga-panel BIG silhouette T-shirt ¥4,950 each

Tower Records Online will sell trading items by the BOX only; the single-item prices above apply to store purchases.

Store postcards and online BOX bonuses are separate offers

At the two event stores, every ¥2,000 spent on eligible goods in a single transaction earns one random postcard from 10 designs, while supplies last. Designs cannot be chosen, and separate transactions cannot be combined. Purchases from Tower Records Online or the later AMNIBUS and Animate sales do not qualify for the postcards.

Tower Records Online has separate, first-come BOX bonuses while stocks last: one BOX of manga-panel holographic badges comes with the Tomie E badge, and one BOX of chibi glitter badges comes with a Kawakami Tomie chibi glitter badge. Store purchases do not qualify for these online bonuses. For later AMNIBUS and Animate sales, the planned extras for those same BOX products are the Tomie F manga-panel holographic badge and a Souichi chibi glitter badge, respectively.

November dates for Ikebukuro, Osaka and online

The pop-up runs November 5–15, 2026, at TOWER RECORDS SUNSHINE CITY ALPA BRANCH in Ikebukuro’s Sunshine City Alpa B1 and Tower Records Abeno Hoop in Osaka. Later sales through AMNIBUS and Animate are planned, although some items may not be available for later orders.

Each trading product is limited per transaction to one BOX or its equivalent number of singles; combining a BOX with singles cannot exceed that limit. Other goods are limited to one of each type, and restrictions may change or be lifted. Store visitors may encounter entry limits or numbered tickets during busy periods, while online ordering runs from November 5 at 10:00 to November 15 at 23:59 JST.
