Snackgirls react

Kirari: Miku’s navy-and-white outfit blends so neatly into the wave foam. I’d want the whole scene in the frame, boats and all!

Nea: I’d like to compare Miku and KAITO side by side. The same wave seems to tell a slightly different story around each of them.

Waves for Miku and KAITO, red Fuji for MEIKO

Rella reworked the six Piapro characters’ official costumes using elements from four prints in Hokusai’s Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, digitally recreating the originals’ style and woodblock-print texture. Miku’s navy-and-white outfit echoes the curling surf of The Great Wave off Kanagawa, with one arm raised amid the waves and boats.

KAITO shares that seascape, his long dark scarf adding another sweeping line to the composition. MEIKO’s red-and-black outfit instead picks up the mountain’s color in Fine Wind, Clear Morning, also known as Red Fuji, while she holds a folding fan aloft against bands of white cloud.

Rin and Len by the lake, Luka among the blossoms

Kagamine Rin and Len share the landscape of Reflection in Lake at Misaka in Kai Province. Rin sits in a pale-blue wrap patterned with landscape details, while Mount Fuji reappears upside down in the water. Len has a separate composition in the same setting, seated with one knee raised.

Megurine Luka’s illustration draws on Goten-yama Hill at Shinagawa on the Tokaido. Her long pink hair and flowing pale skirt sit among cherry blossoms, with visitors and buildings still visible across the hillside. The spring scenery gives her composition a different mood from the waves and mountain views.
