Roon Labs announced its October 2026 certification additions on November 3, covering seven devices from seven manufacturers. AudioQuest’s DragonFly Copper joins as Roon Tested, while six network players join as Roon Ready—a compatibility announcement rather than a hardware launch.

Red I’d like to try listening to game OSTs on a PC through that little USB dongle. It’s appealing not to add another box to the desk.
Nea I’d like to take my time browsing a favorite OST composer’s albums. I suspect choosing the next soundtrack would become part of the enjoyment.
A USB dongle and a network player do different jobs
The AudioQuest DragonFly Copper is a compact USB DAC and headphone amplifier that the announcement lists as working with Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. Its Roon Tested certification does not turn it into a standalone Wi-Fi streamer or a Roon Server.
The Roon Ready Shanling SM50, by contrast, serves as a network playback destination in a Roon system. This desktop unit combines a streamer, DAC, preamp and headphone amp, with Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections. It also offers USB and coaxial digital outputs, balanced XLR analog outputs and RCA analog outputs.

The six Roon Ready additions
- dorpo DMP-A1
- Gold Note DS-5.2
- Shanling SM50
- Telos Master Streamer
- Unison Research Unico DS
- Vitus Audio RD-101 Mk. II
These are not six identical all-in-one boxes. The Telos Master Streamer provides digital outputs, while the Unison Research Unico DS also includes CD playback and a tube output stage.
You still need a server and a Roon license
Roon Server manages your music files, streaming services and audio devices, while Roon apps let you browse and control playback. The server can run on Mac, Windows or Linux, or on dedicated hardware such as Nucleus or a mini-PC running ROCK.
Certification itself does not provide that server environment or automatically include a Roon license. Roon offers paid monthly, annual and lifetime options, along with a trial. You can start with an existing Mac or PC; buying a Nucleus is not required.
