Snackgirls editor note
Red: “When Deadpool, Loki, and Blade all show up together in a Marvel fighting game, the lineup alone grabs attention. This time, it matters even more because we also have actual beta dates to try it hands-on.”
AIKO: “The pre-launch news does not stop at character introductions. It leads straight into an open beta schedule for PS5 and PC. Anyone waiting for the game can start by checking the feel of the controls in late July.”
PlayStation Blog has revealed a new team for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls: the Samurai Outriders. The lineup adds Blade, Loki, and Deadpool alongside the previously revealed Ghost Rider.
This is not just an announcement with more character names. The official post also confirmed the worldwide open beta schedule. It runs July 24–26 in PT, and July 24–27 in Japan time. The target platforms are PS5 and PC.
The new team includes Blade, Loki, and Deadpool
The Samurai Outriders are a dark hero team centered around Ghost Rider. According to the official description, they are less of a fully formed team from the start and more of a group that clashes with each other and grows through the story.
Each character’s direction is also fairly clear. Blade is introduced as an offensive fighter using Muramasa and firearms, Loki as a trickster type mixing illusions and deception, and Deadpool as an unpredictable fighter using healing abilities and fourth-wall-breaking attacks. As a team, they seem closer to creating chaos in play than taking a straightforward head-on approach.

What you can check in the open beta
According to the official announcement, Blade will be playable for the first time in this open beta. More detailed participation conditions will be shared later, but the post also notes that a PlayStation account will be required.
For a fighting game, a beta matters a lot. A trailer can look impressive, but the real feel of the controls, assist flow, and character speed is something players need to judge hands-on. Since this is a new Marvel fighting game involving Arc System Works, beta reactions could have a major impact on expectations before release.

How to look at it for now
For Marvel character fans, this announcement is about checking whether a favorite character made the roster. For fighting game players, the more important point is that they can test the controls and team combinations first in the late-July beta.
Price and detailed release date information are not the core of this official update yet. At this stage, the three things to keep in mind are the team reveal, the beta schedule, and Blade being playable. Once reactions to the late-July beta arrive, it should become much clearer whether this is a fighting game worth waiting for.
