Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Switch 2 Edition 4K/60fps overview trailer released

Nintendo of America’s official YouTube channel has posted an overview trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. A separate overview trailer has also been released on Nintendo’s official Japanese channel, and Gematsu summarized the Switch 2 Edition’s added features alongside the trailer.

This is a different title from Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition Switch 2 Edition and Xenoblade Genesis, which Game Sunakku covered in June. This time, the focus is the Switch 2 version of Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Performance changes

According to Gematsu’s summary of Nintendo Switch 2 feature details, the main points are 4K resolution in TV mode, Full HD in handheld mode, and 60fps. For players returning to a long RPG, these are likely to be the most immediately noticeable changes.

Additional content changes

Performance is not the only area changing. The description includes new Rare Blades, related quests, a new action battle mode that lets players directly control Blades sent on Merc Group missions, and new equipment designs for Pyra and Mythra.

At that level, the package feels closer to something that gives returning players a reason to boot it up again, rather than a simple remaster. However, pricing has not been announced, and upgrade cost details still need confirmation. Regional sales conditions were also not officially confirmed within this check.
