JBL Pulse 6 gives its customizable 360-degree light show a quieter second job: it can serve as a bedside lamp when the music is off. JBL announced the speaker on August 26, 2026. Its US product page listed a price of $329.95 with shipping expected on September 6, 2026, but that notice does not confirm completed shipments or stock arrival. Korean and Japanese pricing, release dates and warranty details remain unavailable.

A light show that stays useful at bedtime

Double-tapping the speaker while music is not playing activates a soft light. The volume buttons control brightness, while the JBL One app also adjusts brightness and color temperature. Sunset Mode adds a countdown of up to 60 minutes, gradually dimming the light before stopping the music when time runs out.

The speaker includes 16 lighting themes—10 ambient and six party options—along with an illuminated handle. That gives the lighting a role in both a lively room and a quieter nightstand setting.

The generation change reaches beyond the lights

The advertised battery figure remains up to 12 hours, matching Pulse 5, while the US launch price is $80 higher than the previous model’s launch price. Pulse 6 weighs 1.49 kg and raises water and dust protection from IP67 to IP68.

JBL has also moved multi-speaker linking from PartyBoost to Auracast, alongside Bluetooth 6.0 and lossless playback over USB-C. Owners of Pulse 5 or other PartyBoost speakers should check compatibility instead of assuming the new model will link with their existing setup.

Lighting and compatibility shape the choice

New buyers who want the light show, bedside controls and newer Auracast ecosystem have the clearest reason to consider Pulse 6. Listeners focused mainly on sound for the money may prefer to compare conventional speakers or wait for independent listening tests.

JBL says the upgraded acoustic design and AI Sound Boost deliver deeper bass, more balanced sound and less distortion. Those performance claims still come from the manufacturer and have not yet been established by independent listening tests.

Snackgirls react

Kirari The bedside mode is the detail I would use most. A soft 360-degree glow fading beside the bed sounds much more inviting than leaving a bright room light on.

Nea The move from PartyBoost to Auracast makes compatibility the question for existing owners. I would check what links together before paying the higher launch price.
