Red: A worldwide Steam target puts this on my radar. I want the September preview to show how the game actually feels in motion.
Nea: Kim returning after helping shape the original makes the reinterpretation especially interesting. I want to hear which parts of ArcheAge's identity the team considers essential.
Kakao Games announced on September 7 that ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom is targeting a worldwide Steam launch in Q2 2027. The narrower window gives players a better sense of when to expect the PC MMORPG, though it remains a target rather than an exact date or guarantee.
Reworking the identity of the original
ArcheAge S builds on the identity of the original ArcheAge while reinterpreting its elements for a contemporary MMORPG audience. Project director Kyung-tae Kim previously served as lead game designer and producer on the original game, giving the new project a direct creative connection to its predecessor.
A closer look is still ahead
Kakao Games plans to release a developer preview later in September 2026. The development team will discuss its design philosophy and present previously unseen gameplay, so that material is still forthcoming rather than already available.
What the launch announcement covers
PC via Steam is the only worldwide launch platform named so far. The announcement does not state a price or confirm console or mobile versions.
