Audio-Technica will raise prices in Japan across 41 listed products from October 6, 2026, with the increase averaging about 23%. Announced on September 7, the change reaches familiar entry-level headphones as well as cartridges, replacement styli, cables, and other audio equipment.
ATH-M20x joins a broad headphone list
The affected list contains 13 headphone models or color variants: five ATH-S100 colors, five ATH-S100iS colors, the ATH-M20x, ATH-M60xa, and ATH-SX1a. Audio-Technica describes the familiar ATH-M20x as an entry-level studio monitor headphone.
Cartridges and replacement styli are included
Analog audio products form another large part of the revision, including five AT-VM95 cartridge variants, three cartridge-and-headshell sets, five replacement styli, and two headshells. One representative model is the AT-VM95ML, which Audio-Technica describes as a mid-grade VM95 cartridge fitted with a nude Microlinear stylus. The wider list also includes the AT-SP105 active speaker, three speaker cables, microphone products, and wireless-system components.
The average will not match every model
Audio-Technica attributes the revision to higher raw-material and logistics costs, but it has not published individual old and new prices. The roughly 23% figure is an average across the revision, not a stated increase for every product. Anyone already considering an affected model can compare its current listed price with the price displayed after October 6. The announcement applies specifically to Japan and does not establish pricing in other markets.

Nea If I already had a model in mind, I’d check whether it appears on the 41-item list first. The average alone cannot show what will happen to one specific product.
Red Seeing the familiar ATH-M20x on the list makes the change feel much less distant. That entry-level studio monitor is the model I’d watch when the revised prices appear.
