SNACK: 3-line summary
- CU’s RESCENE bread collaboration sold about 100,000 units in its first four days.
- Pocket CU reservation stock sold out immediately, and BGF Retail says production is not keeping pace with store demand.
- Jena’s strawberry jam sandwich and May’s cinnamon roll are scheduled to join the lineup on September 22.
South Korean convenience store chain CU sold about 100,000 units of its BAKE405 RESCENE collaboration bread through September 20, just four days after the rollout began. That total came from the first product alone, Woni’s corn cream bread, with two more products scheduled to follow on September 22.

Snackgirls react
Kirari: A transparent photo card could look so different depending on what’s behind it. If I get a card I like, I’d love to photograph it against a few different backgrounds.
Nea: I’m curious about the upcoming strawberry jam sandwich. Since it reflects Jena’s preferences, I’d like to get a little sense of the flavors she enjoys.
The first batch was almost gone in a day
The rollout began on September 17 with Woni’s corn cream bread. About 99% of its initial supply of roughly 30,000 units sold within 24 hours.
During the same four-day period, CU’s total bread sales rose 20% year over year. That figure covers the retailer’s entire bread category, not just the RESCENE products.
Reservation stock on Pocket CU also sold out immediately. BGF Retail says production is not keeping pace with demand from stores across South Korea, so a launch date does not guarantee availability at a particular store.

Strawberry and cinnamon are next
Jena’s strawberry jam sandwich and May’s cinnamon roll are the two additions scheduled for September 22. The full five-product range reflects the members’ preferences and also includes Minami’s melon bread and Liv’s chocolate hotteok. Neither the News1 report nor CU’s product announcement specifies release dates for those last two products.

One transparent photo card in every pack
Each product contains one randomly selected transparent RESCENE photo card from a set of 27. Buying a pack does not guarantee a particular card.
News1 reported cases of the photo cards trading on some online secondhand platforms for roughly six to eight times the bread’s retail price. Those individual cases should not be treated as a going rate for every card.
