The PHILIPS MovingSound TAMS60 and TAMS80 borrow the styling of 1980s boomboxes for Bluetooth listening, with yellow and black versions. Created to mark PHILIPS audio’s 100th anniversary, the two speakers enter advance sales on Japan’s GREENFUNDING platform on October 16.

Red I can picture that boombox-style screen on my game-and-music desk. I’d be tempted to fiddle with the ring-light patterns between tracks.
AIKO Different battery capacities, the same 24-hour claim—I’d like to see the playback conditions behind that number. Only TAMS60 is specified with a removable battery, so my battery-swap plan stops there.
What changes between TAMS60 and TAMS80
TAMS60 combines a 60 W RMS output rating with a removable 5,200 mAh battery. The larger TAMS80 has a higher 140 W RMS rating and a 10,000 mAh battery.
Despite the different capacities, the maker quotes up to 24 hours of continuous playback for both. Both can also supply power to a smartphone; TAMS60 does so through a USB-C cable.

The retro look reaches the screen, too
The PHILIPS Entertainment app lets you choose among six display visuals, including record, boombox and waveform designs. Those are screen graphics, not physical record or cassette playback.
The app also handles volume, track skipping and ring-LED lighting patterns. A separate one-button MovingSound mode emphasizes bass.

The Japanese advance-sale window
The GREENFUNDING project opens on October 16 at 10:00 JST and closes on November 29 at 23:59 JST. Teaser preregistration is already open.
For anyone considering an order, the next step is to check the project’s purchase terms and delivery information when sales open. October 16 marks the start of this Japanese advance-sale project, not a shipping date or a worldwide retail launch.
