Prime1 Studio’s Evangelion Unit-01 prototype grows to roughly 300mm

SNACK: 3-line summary

  • Prime1 Studio showed a larger Evangelion Unit-01 action-figure prototype at the 64th All Japan Model & Hobby Show.
  • The roughly 300mm prototype is designed for action poses, while the separate hangar busts are non-articulated plastic model kits.
  • Preorders for both lines are planned to open in spring 2027; they have not opened yet, and release dates remain undecided.

Prime1 Studio’s DYNAMIC ARTS Evangelion Unit-01 (Concept By Josh Nizzi) prototype has grown to approximately 300mm tall—about 1.5 times the size of the earlier prototype. Displayed at the 2026 edition of the 64th All Japan Model & Hobby Show, the articulated figure adapts Nizzi’s statue design with detailing closer to the original sculpt.

Snackgirls react

Kirari: I’m drawn to the sculpted detail of that gray prototype. I’d love to see how the planned metallic finish catches the light in photos.

Red: I’d start by trying the biggest action pose I could. The fixed hangar bust has its appeal, but I want to see what this Unit-01 can do with its joints.

Statue detailing with room for action poses

The latest prototype was shown unpainted. Its gray appearance is not the planned production finish: metallic-focused colors are intended, following the statue and earlier prototype.

The figure uses die-cast, ABS and PVC, with articulation designed to support bold, Eva-style action poses. It is a separate action figure in development, rather than an existing statue being made movable.

According to HOBBY Watch’s October 4 booth report, a standard version is planned with the figure and basic equipment. A deluxe version would include a diorama base and all planned weapons, including the Spear of Cassius. The base depicts the upper body of the fourth Angel and a Tokyo-3 scene.

Fixed bust kits recreate the NERV hangar

Prime1 Studio also exhibited BUILD ART MASTERLINE Evangelion Bust prototypes for Unit-00 (Rebuild), Unit-01 and Unit-02. These are three separate non-articulated plastic model kits, not three poseable figures or a single three-unit set.

The busts recreate the machines held inside a NERV hangar, complete with restraints and L.C.L. The Unit-01 kit is planned to use roughly six molded colors, with red molded parts representing the L.C.L.

The display labels for both the DYNAMIC ARTS figure and BUILD ART MASTERLINE bust kits listed spring 2027 as the planned preorder opening. Preorders have not opened yet, and release dates remain undecided; spring 2027 is not a promised release or delivery window.
