Macross PLAMAX VF-1J goes blue and red with Max and Milia’s Super Battroids

Max’s blue VF-1J and Milia’s red counterpart are getting the PLAMAX Super Battroid treatment. Max Factory has opened preorders for two separate assembly kits from the original TV anime The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, with shipment planned for April 2027.

Two colors, full Super Valkyrie equipment

PX21 recreates Maximilian Jenius’s blue unit, while PX22 depicts Milia Fallyna Jenius’s red unit. Both are 1/72 scale and approximately 185 mm tall, equipped with propellant tanks and boosters fitted with missile pods.

The Max kit has parts molded in nine colors, and the Milia kit uses eight. Both include water-slide marking decals. Max Factory says assembly and decals alone can produce a convincing finish, though the promotional photos show painted finished samples and the actual products may differ.

Each kit includes six reaction missiles as under-wing weapons, polycap joints for posing, and a matching pilot figure in the same scale. Both can also be assembled in normal Battroid configuration.

What to have ready before building

Assembly requires plastic-model nippers and plastic-model cement. The colored parts and included decals do not remove the need for those tools and materials.

The Good Smile Company official shop’s preorder window runs from October 9 through November 18, 2026. The kits are sold individually at ¥8,800 each, with a limit of three of each product per customer.
