US audio retailer Apos introduced MOONDROP’s Starfield III wired earphones on October 9, 2026, and says they are available now. Red I’d like to try swapping the cable between a compatible phone and a DAC. Then I’d switch back to USB-C and start tinkering with those 32 EQ bands.

Nea I’d start with small USB-C EQ adjustments while listening to vocals and piano soundtracks. I’m curious about finding a setting I’d want to return to.

The USB-C plug is where the EQ lives

The locking plug system uses one connection at a time. Choose 3.5mm for a conventional headphone output or 4.4mm for a compatible balanced output. The USB-C plug contains a sound card/DAC for compatible digital-audio devices.

That USB-C module supports MOONDROP’s second-generation online interactive DSP platform through the MOONDROP app or web interface. Its 32-band parametric EQ lets you choose a frequency, raise or lower its level, and adjust the width of that change using the Q setting. These controls belong to the USB-C module, not the plain 3.5mm or 4.4mm analog connections.

Community tuning profiles can be downloaded and applied to the USB-C module; submitting your own settings for sharing requires approval. Apos lists the earphones at $149.99.

Two drivers with different jobs

Apos describes two dynamic drivers: a 10mm bass driver with a wood-dome composite diaphragm and a 7.8mm treble driver with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) dome composite diaphragm. Electronic crossover circuitry and acoustic filtering coordinate the two frequency ranges.

The resin shells have iridescent faceplates that shift from blue to violet-purple with the lighting and viewing angle, finished with gold celestial patterns. The cable detaches at 0.78mm 2-pin connectors with a shallow-groove design, so a replacement needs to match the connector and socket arrangement.

Before choosing a plug, check which audio outputs your phone, player or DAC supports—particularly whether it offers a 4.4mm balanced output or compatible USB-C digital audio.
