- Fairphone has introduced Fairbuds 2, a new pair of modular true wireless earbuds.
- Owners can replace both earbud and charging-case batteries rather than replace the whole set when a battery wears out.
- LDAC requires a compatible Android device; iPhones can still use Bluetooth listening and the companion app.
Fairphone introduced Fairbuds 2 on October 14, 2026. The new true wireless in-ear earbuds let you replace the batteries in both earbuds and the charging case yourself, so a worn battery needn’t mean replacing the whole set.

Snackgirls react
Red A worn battery? I’d want to open the compartment and swap it myself before tossing the earbuds.
Nea I’d like to try the app’s equalizer with a game soundtrack. I’m curious which setting I’d enjoy for the same piece.
Replace a battery—or a missing earbud
The modular design has seven user-replaceable parts. Fairphone describes battery swaps in the earbuds and case as tool-free and glue-free, while broader disassembly can involve a screwdriver.
Fairphone also sells individual replacement earbuds and charging-case spare parts. Losing one earbud doesn’t automatically mean buying another pair.

Phone compatibility and everyday listening
The Fairbuds app for Android and iOS offers four sound presets and a five-band equalizer. LDAC audio streaming at up to 990 kbps requires a compatible Android device; an iPhone can still connect over Bluetooth and use the app.
For switching between a phone and a computer, multipoint supports two active connections at once. It can remember up to six devices, rather than connecting to all six simultaneously.
Fairphone rates earbud playback at up to eight hours with active noise cancellation (ANC) off, or six hours with it on. Including recharges from the case, its stated total is up to 40 hours with ANC off.
U.S. availability is planned for November 2026. The listed U.S. price is $119.99.
