HI-METAL R Layzner arrives in Japan with glowing eyes and a tiny Eiji

BANDAI SPIRITS’ HI-METAL R Layzner goes on sale in Japan today, October 17, 2026, with light-up eyes and miniature Eiji figures for cockpit and boarding scenes. The completed action figure depicts the lead robot from the first half of Blue Comet SPT Layzner.

Glowing eyes, with Eiji along for the ride

The proportions follow Kunio Okawara’s setting art, including Layzner’s distinctive, relatively large head. An LED inside the neck’s ball joint illuminates the compound eyes—a first for the HI-METAL R line. The lighting requires two LR41 button batteries, sold separately.

Two Eiji figures are included: one seated for the cockpit and one standing. By swapping parts, the standing figure can be displayed on the boarding wire or on Layzner’s left shoulder, giving the pilot a place in the scene outside the cockpit, too.

Open the armor for a post-V-MAX display

Opening the armor panels exposes internal parts to recreate the heat-dissipation state after V-MAX. The movable Knuckle Shot and segmented, articulated fingers also allow punching poses without swapping parts.

The figure stands approximately 165 mm tall and uses ABS, die-cast metal and PVC. Its suggested retail price in Japan is ¥29,700 including tax. Availability and arrival timing vary by retailer.
