LG Sound Suite H7 adds DTS:X—but check your TV first

LG detailed software updates adding DTS:X support to the LG Sound Suite H7 soundbar in its October 14 U.S. announcement. To use the immersive audio format, you need compatible content and source equipment—and a TV that supports DTS audio.

DTS:X support is distinct from Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. It does not turn every film or song into native DTS:X audio, or mean that DTS:X works in every FlexConnect configuration.

The player connects to your TV, not the H7

The H7 has no HDMI input for directly connecting an external player or console. The connection runs from the source device to a DTS-compatible TV, then from the TV to the H7 through HDMI eARC/ARC.

Check whether the TV can pass the required DTS audio format through that connection, along with its audio pass-through settings. An eARC port alone is not enough to guarantee DTS:X playback, and ARC should not be assumed to carry every lossless audio format.

The LG Media Connect Hub, intended to enable DTS:X playback from compatible external sources, remains in development and is not available to buy; launch timing and details are unconfirmed.

An optional second W7, plus music through Cast

Compatible Sound Suite configurations can also connect two W7 subwoofers. This is an optional expansion, not a requirement or a promise of two included units. LG says the extra placement options can help make bass more consistent across multiple seats—not simply increase output.

The H7 also gains Google Cast support for streaming compatible music and podcasts. That gives the soundbar another use beyond TV audio, without needing to add a second subwoofer.

These features are delivered through software updates, and availability, timing and supported features vary by model, country or region, router compatibility and software version. Before planning a setup, check the update information for your particular model and your TV’s DTS compatibility.
