ArcheAge Chronicles demo opens worldwide—with a hidden dungeon to find

SNACK: 3-line summary

  • ArcheAge Chronicles’ free Steam demo opens worldwide on October 19 at 10 a.m. PDT.
  • An optional high-level dungeon requires a hidden key, while a PvP channel becomes accessible after the first town.
  • The quests offer roughly 2–3 hours of content, and progress and saves will not carry over to Early Access.

ArcheAge Chronicles’ upcoming free Steam demo has a challenge outside its main quests: finding the hidden key to the high-level Throne of Hinnon dungeon. In an October 18 producer letter, XLGAMES confirmed worldwide access and detailed both this optional dungeon and an early route into a PvP channel.

A hidden key opens a difficult detour

Throne of Hinnon is outside normal quest progression, and its key is tucked away somewhere difficult to find. XLGAMES warns that the dungeon may be extremely difficult at the level available in the demo, making it an optional challenge for players who want to venture beyond the quests.

PvP also has a specific entry point. After leaving the first town and reaching the Nui Statue at the next destination, players can access a PvP channel. Joining it is optional; characters do not enter PvP straight from creation.

The roughly 2–3-hour estimate applies to quest content, not a mandatory limit on total playtime. Housing and trade are not included in this demo.

Snackgirls react

Red: I want to find that key, even if the dungeon turns out to be too much for me. Getting through the door would only make me want to push further.

Nea: I’d like to follow the quests with a party and leave room for detours. I’m curious where we’d stop to look around once we weren’t rushing toward the next objective.

Free worldwide access, but no save carryover

The demo runs from October 19 at 10 a.m. PDT until October 26 at 10 a.m. PDT. There are no regional restrictions, and no preregistration or application is required. To participate, use a Steam account and select Download Demo on the game’s store page.

Servers are available in North America East and West, Europe Central, and Asia East and South. The four supported languages are English, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

According to XLGAMES, the demo adds previously missing voice-over and facial animation, improves audio, and includes fixes and adjustments for party quest sharing, channel joining, point-of-interest bugs and navigation hints. The developer also lists fixes for ladder collision, hit detection, localization and visual shimmering.

Expanded gender options for gender-locked classes are in development, with selected classes to receive them gradually. These changes will not be ready for the Steam Next Fest demo, and no rollout date has been announced.

This is a demo, not the full release or an Early Access launch. Progress and save data will not carry over to Early Access, so any quests completed or dungeon challenges attempted here belong to this demo run.
