Yamaha B200A brings virtual Dolby Atmos to a 60cm bar

SNACK: 3-line summary

  • Yamaha has announced the B200A, a compact successor to the SR-C20A with virtual Dolby Atmos support.
  • Its 60cm-wide body includes a subwoofer, so the standard setup needs no separate bass unit.
  • The Japan release is planned for late October 2026; desktop users should check their PC or monitor’s audio outputs first.

Yamaha announced the B200A in Japan on October 20, 2026, keeping the 60cm width of the 2020 SR-C20A while adding virtual Dolby Atmos and updated drivers and tuning. It is designed for TVs and desktop setups, though its HDMI socket is not a direct PC audio input.

Red I’d like to try it on a small desk and compare where game sounds seem to come from around the screen. I’m curious how much space the virtual effect can suggest.

Nea I’m curious whether Clear Voice would help me follow game dialogue with the volume kept low. That’s what I’d want to listen for first.

What fits inside the 60cm bar

The B200A measures 600mm wide, 94mm deep and 64mm high. Two 4.6cm full-range drivers, a built-in 7.5cm subwoofer and two passive radiators form a physical 2.1-channel system, with no separate subwoofer needed for the standard setup.

Dolby Atmos is handled through virtual surround processing before playback through those 2.1 channels. There are no upfiring or rear speakers. Yamaha says its tuning expands the sound field sideways and upward, but the effect is room-dependent and should not be equated with a discrete surround system.

Stereo, Standard, Movie and Game modes sit alongside Clear Voice, intended to make dialogue easier to hear, and Bass Extension for added bass emphasis. The supplied remote and Sound Bar Remote mobile app provide controls for settings such as volume, inputs and sound modes.

Check what your PC or monitor can output

The HDMI connector is a TV-facing output with eARC audio return and CEC control. It is not a general HDMI audio input or passthrough for a PC, and an ordinary HDMI input on a monitor does not establish eARC compatibility.

A PC’s 3.5mm audio output can connect to the bar’s stereo analog input; an optical digital input is also provided. Bluetooth supports wireless music playback, but neither analog nor Bluetooth should be treated as an Atmos connection. Atmos over eARC requires a compatible TV, source and content.

Late-October release in Japan

Yamaha’s product page lists an October 2026 release, while AV Watch’s October 20 report specifies late October. Official pricing is open rather than a fixed MSRP; AV Watch reports an expected Japanese street price of about ¥43,780, not a guaranteed shop price.

If your SR-C20A already meets your needs, the Atmos label alone is no reason to replace it. For anyone considering the B200A ahead of its Japan release, start by measuring the available desk space and clearance below the monitor, then check which audio output you can actually use.
