SNACK: 3-line summary
- Headfonics published its FIIO AIR AMP review on October 24, 2026.
- Streaming and amplification share one compact box for passive speakers, which are sold separately.
- Spotify Connect is absent, and powered-subwoofer crossover adjustments stay on the subwoofer.
Headfonics published Meldrick’s FIIO AIR AMP review on October 24, 2026. The compact amplifier brings streaming, digital-to-analog conversion and passive-speaker amplification into one box, but the review flags an important omission: Spotify Connect.
Snackgirls react
Red I’d like to try a setup with fewer boxes and cables—and get my hand on that front volume knob. How tidy could I make the whole desk?
Nea I’d enjoy browsing a NAS collection of soundtrack albums. I suspect I’d linger over which game’s music to revisit next.
AirPlay, NAS and USB playback in the same box
The AIR AMP supports AirPlay, Roon Ready and QPlay, alongside playback from a NAS or USB storage. Network connections use dual-band 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi or Gigabit Ethernet. The FIIO Control app and web interface offer manually adjustable 10-band parametric EQ, while an included infrared remote handles control away from the front panel.
Rated for 120W at 4 ohms, 90W at 8 ohms
This compact Class-D amplifier drives passive speakers, which must be purchased separately. With the included 48V/5A adapter, FIIO specifies 120W per channel into 4 ohms or 90W per channel into 8 ohms, both at total harmonic distortion plus noise below 1%; these are manufacturer ratings.
Spotify playback and subwoofer tuning have limits
Spotify can still play through a compatible source: Headfonics used AirPlay from Apple devices. That is a different playback route from Spotify Connect, so users who normally select an amplifier directly through Connect will need another supported connection.
The dedicated RCA subwoofer output can feed a powered subwoofer, but Headfonics reports no adjustable crossover on the amplifier. Level and crossover adjustments are handled on the powered subwoofer itself.
Headfonics lists an international reference price of $299, rather than a confirmed local retail price.
