  • Google has launched a preview of its unified Connected Apps Platform for Search and Gemini.
  • Adobe, Experian, Localiza and Peloton integrations are already live in Gemini and are due in Search in the coming weeks.
  • Developer access is opening in phases, with more developers, markets and Google products to follow over the coming months.

Google launched its Connected Apps Platform preview on October 28, offering developers a common way to bring app features into Search and the Gemini app. The aim is to make more everyday tasks available within those services through a shared integration.

AIKO: I’d be curious to follow latency once the same integration is live in both services. One integration, two places to watch the clock.

Nea: If playlist-making could help me gather game soundtracks, I’d like to try it. I’d start with the music I’d want to keep listening to after the credits.

Already in Gemini, coming next to Search

Google points to grocery ordering and playlist creation as examples of existing Connected Apps tasks. Integrations with Adobe, Experian, Localiza and Peloton are already live in the Gemini app.

Those partner integrations are scheduled to reach Search in the coming weeks. Google also plans to launch a new Calm integration across both Search and Gemini.

One integration, a choice of where to launch

Developers can integrate through a cloud-hosted MCP server or Android MCP using the AppFunctions APIs. MCP connects AI with app functions, while Google Connected Console provides the place to register, test and submit an app.

Before review, developers choose Search, Gemini or both as their destinations. Once an app is live, they can monitor traffic, latency and error rates, and manage their brand identity with verified logos and authenticated accounts.

A phased preview joins an existing app lineup

Access to the developer platform is opening in phases. Google plans to bring in more developers, markets and Google products over the coming months.

Google says more than 50 Connected Apps have already launched across Search and Gemini combined. To see which connections you can use, check the Connected Apps lists in the Search and Gemini help centers.
