Google Slides: one Gemini prompt can now edit an entire deck

SNACK: 3-line summary

  • Gemini in Google Slides can now edit multiple existing slides or an entire deck from one prompt.
  • The slides remain editable, and changes can be reviewed or reverted using undo or version history.
  • Access is English-only at launch on eligible plans, with a gradual rollout that began October 29.

Google’s October 30 announcement expands Gemini in Google Slides to editing whole existing presentations from a single side-panel prompt. Google’s official demonstration illustrates the workflow with a request to match a deck to company branding.

Google Slides — Edit your presentation with Gemini

Snackgirls react

AIKO: I’d like to test how a single style command holds together across a whole deck. Editable slides and undo give that experiment a useful reverse gear.

Nea: I’d be curious to turn a long set of worldbuilding notes into a smaller presentation. I’d want to see whether the little details that make the setting interesting still have room.

A branding refresh is one example of what a deck-wide prompt can do. Gemini can update fonts, backgrounds and colors in bulk, match another presentation’s style, or add detail using a reference file from Google Drive. Google also gives the example of condensing slides 5–7 into a single slide.

Gemini selects the slides that need changing and applies edits directly to native, editable slides, leaving you free to adjust them manually. A change summary appears in the side panel, and undo or version history lets you review or revert the edits.

English-only at launch, on selected plans

The feature supports English only at launch. Eligible plans include Google Workspace Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, consumer Google AI Pro and Ultra, and the Google AI Pro for Education add-on. There is no administrator control for this feature.

Rolling out gradually, with a separate creation-limit promotion

The extended rollout began October 29, 2026, for both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. Feature visibility can take longer than 15 days, so an eligible account may not have access yet.

Separately, Workspace customers have promotional access to higher limits for creating multi-slide presentations through at least December 1, 2026. Per-user usage limits will apply after the promotional period, with details provided in advance through the Help Center.
