Audio-Technica ATH-TWX9MK3 adapts noise cancellation to your fit

Audio-Technica announced the ATH-TWX9MK3 on November 5, introducing noise cancellation designed to adjust to how the earbuds sit in your ears. The successor to the ATH-TWX9MK2 also supports LHDC-V5 transmission at up to 192kHz/24-bit, though a compatible source device is required.

Noise cancellation that follows the fit

According to Audio-Technica, the new Fit Adaptive system uses MEMS microphones to detect noise and monitors the fit in real time, adjusting the noise-cancelling filter accordingly. That is intended to account for differences in ear shape and insertion depth, including differences between your left and right ears.

You still choose the physical fit yourself. The oval ear tips come in eight options: Standard and Long lengths, each in XS, S, M and L. Those choices let you try different sizes and insertion depths; they do not mechanically resize themselves.

High-resolution audio needs a compatible source

LHDC-V5 supports transmission at up to 192kHz/24-bit only when connected to a compatible source device. The source device’s specifications determine the actual sample-rate ceiling. LDAC, AAC and SBC are also supported.

Audio-Technica lists the following maximum music playback times from a single earbud charge:

• Noise cancellation on: up to 11 hours.
• Noise cancellation off: up to 15 hours.

Actual runtime varies with use.

Japan launch on November 20

The ATH-TWX9MK3 will launch in Japan on November 20, 2026, in black and beige. AV Watch reports a Japanese direct-store price of ¥41,800.
