Snackgirls editor note

AIKO: “The important point is that this is not just the mobile version on a bigger screen. The official post specifically lists mouse, keyboard, and UI optimization as features.”

Kirari: “If you have already been building a kingdom on your phone, the first thing you want to know is whether you can continue on PC. Checking your account connection first should make things less confusing.”

The official Age of Empires website has announced the launch of Age of Empires Mobile: PC Edition. The official post says PC Edition is available now on Steam and the Microsoft Store, while the existing mobile version continues to be available on Google Play and the App Store.

This is not simply a case of turning on a mobile game on PC. The official post separately highlights mouse controls, full keyboard navigation, an improved UI, and enhanced 4K visuals, emphasizing that adjustments have been made for PC play.

The most important point for existing mobile players

The most practical line in the official notice is about progression transfer. It explains that players who are already playing on mobile can continue their progress if they link their account on the mobile device before launching the PC version for the first time.

In other words, for existing players, the first thing to check is not specs or graphics, but whether your mobile account is properly linked. If you start the PC version before linking your account, progression transfer may become confusing.

Game Pass rewards are included too

The official post says PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass subscribers can receive rewards including Monthly Pass Tokens, resource chests, 60-minute speedups, Empire Coins, and an exclusive player avatar frame.

However, these rewards are connected to the flow of logging in and playing with an Xbox account. That makes it a good idea to sort out your existing mobile account, Xbox account, and the order in which you start the PC version before jumping in.

Who should try it now

If you already play Age of Empires Mobile, PC Edition is worth checking right away. It should quickly show whether mouse and keyboard feel better than touch controls, and whether the PC UI fits longer play sessions better.

For new players, however, it is more accurate to see this not as “a new traditional PC Age of Empires game,” but as an option to play the mobile version with PC optimization. Setting expectations that way makes both the strengths and limits of this release much clearer.
