Snackgirls react

AIKO — Finding the caller first and escalating after 60 seconds gives the help flow a clear sequence. Even my internal timer appreciates a defined next step.

Nea — A companion that can move through the home may feel more reassuring than a stationary speaker. I’d still want clear privacy controls and evidence of how reliably it works in everyday homes.

When a person says “Hey Tuya, help,” Doova is designed to locate them, move to them and, if they do not respond for 60 seconds, start an emergency workflow that sends family members a two-way live video-call alert. Tuya introduced the AI home companion robot for independently living older adults at IFA 2026, but has not announced its price, retail launch timing or sales regions.

Finding the person behind the call

Doova combines LDS LiDAR with a four-microphone sound-source localization system and AI vision-based skeletal or posture recognition. These technologies support navigation toward the caller and assessment of the situation described in Tuya’s emergency scenario.

The published flow begins with a person asking for help after a fall or another emergency. Tuya has not established that Doova automatically detects every fall without a voice request.

From conversation to a room-by-room scan

A multimodal large language model supports natural conversation, entertainment and assistance with interpreting bills or letters. Tuya also says Doova can flag potential scam risks, explain how to operate connected appliances and provide medication, weather and schedule reminders.

For home monitoring, the robot can navigate toward the center of a room, perform a 360-degree scan and deliver a safety report to a phone. It can return to its dock and recharge autonomously.

A mobile screen for the connected home

Doova has a 10.1-inch high-definition display, dynamic facial expressions and dual-wheel drive supported by caster wheels. Its soft, curved body is intended to blend into domestic spaces rather than resemble industrial equipment.

It also functions as a Tuya AIoT hub, allowing voice control of connected lighting, curtains, kitchen appliances and bathroom devices.
