Edifier XR6 adds automatic room calibration via PC software and onboard DSP

Edifier’s XR6 adds automatic room calibration to a professional active studio monitor: dedicated PC software turns room measurements into correction filters, and onboard DSP applies them. The required external measurement kit is not included, so the speaker does not perform the process unaided. Edifier announced the XR6 on September 3 for IFA 2026, held September 4–8 at Messe Berlin. Three drivers and three Class-D channels

Each XR6 is one three-way, tri-amped monitor intended for home studios, recording rooms and production workstations. Its 1.25-inch aluminum-dome tweeter receives 10W, the 4-inch aluminum midrange driver gets 30W, and the 6.5-inch aluminum woofer gets 60W, totaling 100W RMS per monitor.

The enclosure measures approximately 194 × 287 × 304mm. Edifier says its die-cast aluminum construction reduces resonance and cabinet coloration, with tuning aimed at flat on-axis and off-axis response.

Correction still starts with placement

The active crossover and complete signal path use 24-bit/192kHz DSP processing. That figure describes the internal processing architecture; it does not establish audible superiority on its own.

Rear controls provide bass roll-off, desktop-placement and tilt adjustments. Room correction can help compensate for room and placement effects, but it cannot replace basic monitor positioning or acoustic treatment.

Plan for two monitors and the right source

Inputs cover balanced XLR and TRS, unbalanced RCA and AES/EBU digital. An AES/EBU output can continue the digital chain to additional monitors. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB audio, HDMI, consumer optical input and built-in streaming are not among the announced features.

Amplification is built into each XR6, but a normal stereo setup still needs two monitors plus a compatible source or audio interface. Price and retail release date remain unannounced, and Edifier has not announced Korean or Japanese domestic availability. No independent production-unit measurements or listening review is available yet.
