Great Zaurus Mothra Takes Flight Above a Cocoon in a 30 cm DX Display

PLEX has detailed a newly sculpted Great Zaurus Series Mothra and a DX set that mounts the adult above a sculpted cocoon for an approximately 30 cm-tall flight display, with a larval Mothra also included. Reservations are only planned for the Maru-P Garage online store, and no opening date has been listed.

A new sculpt with roots in Popy’s kaiju toys

The revived Great Zaurus line is based on Popy’s kaiju soft-vinyl toys sold from 1978 to 1981. This Mothra is a new sculpt that draws on the look of Popy’s separate King Zaurus version. PLEX is listed as the seller, with Art Storm serving as sales agent and manufacturer.

The cocoon turns the DX set into a full scene

The adult Mothra measures approximately 19.5 cm. In the DX set, an included support holds it in flight above a cocoon sculpted with building rubble, while the figure can also rest directly on top of the cocoon. The DX-only larval Mothra is approximately 13 cm long and can tilt its head left and right.

Movable wings and legs open up the display

The adult figure rotates at the neck and both wing roots, and all three pairs of legs move at their bases. Those joints allow its silhouette to change whether it is displayed alone, supported in flight or resting on the cocoon.

The adult Mothra is priced at ¥18,480 including tax, while the DX set is ¥29,700 including tax. Both are planned for April 2027.
