Kirari: The R-9 armament diagram sounds like the kind of graphic that rewards a closer look instead of simply placing a logo across the shirt.

Nea: I’d be tempted to see the designs at TGS first, but the missing S size and limited advance quantity make the late-November preorder route worth considering.

Old game graphics are leaving the screen for shirts and bags. COSPA has announced seven designs based on retro-game properties handled by City Connection including Jaleco titles and R-TYPE with advance sales planned for Tokyo Game Show 2026.

From Ixpel’s transformation to the R-9 loadout

The five shirts cover the Jaleco logo, Formation Z, Ninja JaJaMaru-kun and two R-TYPE designs. The Formation Z graphic follows Ixpel as it transforms from robot to flight form, while the Ninja JaJaMaru-kun shirt captures Gamapakkun in its invincible state. R-TYPE fans can choose between a logo shirt and a white or sumi design that diagrams the R-9’s armaments.

City Connection supplies the other two items: a shoulder tote and a large tote decorated with familiar cartridge and box artwork.

Five shirts and two sizes of tote

Each shirt costs ¥3,300 including tax and comes in S, M, L and XL. The Jaleco logo shirt is offered in sumi or white, Formation Z and Ninja JaJaMaru-kun in black, the R-TYPE logo shirt in black, and the R-TYPE R9 shirt in white or sumi.

The natural-color shoulder tote costs ¥2,200 and measures approximately 40 × 34 × 13 cm. Made from 100 percent cotton, it includes a snap button and an inner pocket. The matching large tote is approximately 40 × 48 × 15 cm and costs ¥1,980.

Tokyo Game Show gets the first batch

Advance sales are scheduled at the COSPA booth during Tokyo Game Show 2026 from September 17 through 21. S-size shirts will not be part of this advance sale, and quantities will be limited. Other events and selected stores may also receive advance stock.

The general release is planned for late November 2026. General-sale stock is available to preorder through COSPA’s online shop and the other listed sales channels.
