Snackgirls react

Red: Twin crossbows and battlefield leaps sound fast, but spreading disease and consuming it for power makes the Plague Knight the class I want to try first.

Nea: A former Sister and a stranded Treasure Goblin sharing the caravan could make the journey feel unusually personal. I’m curious how their stories change along with the world.

Diablo V’s first playable lineup is taking shape. Blizzard’s dedicated panel introduced the Demon Hunter, Monk, and all-new Plague Knight, whose ability to spread disease and consume it for power gives the sequel its most unfamiliar class so far.

Three classes with distinct ways to fight

The Demon Hunter attacks from the shadows with twin crossbows and can leap across the battlefield. The Monk relies on fists and holy power, while the Plague Knight spreads disease and pestilence before consuming them to become stronger. These are only the first classes Blizzard has announced, with more to be shared later.

A shifting Sanctuary travels with you

Terrain, points of interest, monsters, and rewards can change when players return to an area. Instead of depending on towns or conquered strongholds, players build a traveling caravan whose allies act as vendors and companions with their own stories. Blizzard’s examples include a former Sister of the Sightless Eye and a stranded Treasure Goblin.

Diablo II ideas return through item experiments

Diablo V’s itemization takes inspiration from Diablo II. Blizzard is experimenting with stat requirements, larger items occupying more inventory slots, returning gear sets, and crafting built around Runes and Runewords. The game remains early in development, with regular updates planned from 2027 and the release target still set for Spring 2029.
