Kirari: The heavy-metal Sonic lettering and hologram-like mascot in Jet sneakers would make a striking storefront photo. I’d want to see that screen-jump effect in person.
Red: A vintage Blast City running Sonic the Fighters inside a fashion flagship? I’d head straight for the controls and play before looking at the clothes.

A luxury fashion launch now comes with an arcade stop. Balenciaga’s new partnership with SEGA brings Sonic-styled apparel and a playable 1996 Sonic the Fighters cabinet to its Aoyama flagship, giving the September 15 Japan launch something visitors can experience beyond the clothing itself.

Sonic the Fighters returns to a Blast City cabinet
Two vintage SEGA Blast City cabinets have been installed at the Balenciaga flagship store in Aoyama. One lets visitors play Sonic the Fighters, while the other forms part of the window display. No end date has been announced for the installation, so its availability on a later visit is not guaranteed.

Heavy-metal lettering meets a hologram-like Sonic
The collection uses Sonic name lettering styled like a heavy-metal logo, alongside sticker-like Balenciaga marks drawn in the familiar SEGA font. Another graphic shows a blue hedgehog mascot in Balenciaga Jet sneakers appearing to leap from a screen as a hologram.
Japan-exclusive ready-to-wear pieces include a varsity jacket and long-sleeve T-shirt. The wider merchandise range also covers a nylon bomber jacket, oversized T-shirt, zip-up hoodie and brim cap.
- Varsity jacket: ¥532,000
- Long-sleeve T-shirt: ¥142,000
- Oversized T-shirt: ¥116,000
- Zip-up hoodie: ¥256,000
- Brim cap: ¥69,000
These prices are listed in FASHIONSNAP’s current retail report.
