Microsoft announced Home, Code and Autopilot for Copilot on September 25. Together, they extend it from conversation and document work to building apps and carrying on with assigned tasks while a person is away. The three capabilities are not all becoming available to everyone at once.

Home puts conversations and documents together
Home brings Chat, for quick questions, and Cowork, for tasks delegated from start to finish, into one place. It also shows recent activity so people can pick up where they left off.
Microsoft is bringing Word, Excel and PowerPoint into this experience through Office in Copilot. Users can create or update editable documents, spreadsheets and presentations alongside a conversation.
Describe an app to Code
With Code, a person can describe an app, dashboard or automation in natural language, and Copilot chooses an approach and builds it. That includes internal apps that can be shared with a team.
Microsoft says Code uses the same underlying technology as GitHub Copilot and runs in a sandboxed environment. It is intended to make small, purpose-built work tools accessible beyond software developers.
Autopilot keeps going without another prompt
Previously called Scout, Autopilot can be given a name, role and goal. Microsoft says it can watch channels, follow up on threads and handle recurring work. Because it runs in the cloud, it can continue while the person who assigned the work is away.
Home and Code will begin rolling out in the Frontier program over the coming weeks. Autopilot will expand to private preview at the end of the month. Cowork, Code and Autopilot use usage-based billing, so availability and an organization’s spending rules matter before putting them to work.
