The weight moves off your face
The roughly 100g glasses connect by an optical tether to a separate clip-on puck containing the processor, battery and storage. The display and sensors remain in the glasses, so this is not a fully untethered headset. Meta says the glasses are about five times lighter than Quest 3.
What the glasses and puck are meant to do
Meta specifies a 5K Infinite Display with micro-OLED panels and 37 pixels per degree, plus Dolby Vision and Atmos in the frames. It says hand gestures can control the glasses. The puck uses Snapdragon Reality Elite and promises up to three hours of continuous high-resolution media playback, with 45W fast charging; that battery figure does not cover every use.
Games are planned for launch, not playable today
Meta promises more than 75 hand-gesture-controlled games when the glasses launch, with hundreds more available through Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming. It also claims IMAX Enhanced certification. Disney+ 3D is set to begin in select countries in November, while immersive ESPN college football this year begins on Meta Quest—not on these unreleased glasses.
A US price, with other markets still unclear
Meta plans to sell the VR Glasses in spring 2027 for $1,299.99 in the US. Its announcement gives no launch date or local price for Korea or Japan, so buyers there do not yet have a confirmed retail plan.
