Bluetooth listening and TV audio take different paths
You do not need to build a Sonos system to listen over Bluetooth. The private TV Audio feature is different: it transfers audio from a compatible Sonos soundbar to the headphones, so the soundbar matters if that is the feature you want.
Speaker linking has its own limits
Headphone Linking is a separate Early Access feature requiring a compatible Sonos speaker, Wi-Fi and setup in the Sonos app. The Gadgeteer reports that a reviewer could link music played through the Sonos app, but not the AirPlay or Bluetooth sources tested. That describes those tests, not a permanent rule for every source.
