Red I want to fill one of these with a mix that keeps the energy up. Picking which songs make the cut sounds like half the fun.
Nea I’d like to handwrite the tracklist on that black-and-silver card. I’d probably spend a while getting the song titles into just the right order.
Two tapes in Shinjuku, five in Akihabara
- Monday, October 12, a public holiday in Japan: early sales at the HIDISC booth at CASSETTE WEEK MARKET 2026, held at WPÜ HOTEL SHINJUKU in Tokyo. The event runs from noon to 7 p.m. JST, with free admission and no advance registration. Purchases are limited to two tapes per person.
- Tuesday, October 13: sales begin at 10 a.m. JST at MAG-LAB in Akihabara, in limited quantities. Purchases are limited to five tapes per person.
The price is ¥1,100 per tape, including tax in Japan.
The Shinjuku market also brings together cassette, record and audio exhibitors, alongside DJ sets and recording and listening workshops.

A blank tape, with room for your tracklist
Type-I denotes the normal-position tape format, distinct from high-position and metal. This cassette is blank, ready for music you record yourself. Playback requires a cassette deck or player, while recording requires equipment with a recording function.
The manufacturer says it uses stored Japanese-made bulk tape reels and its own production equipment in Japan. It describes the project as a way to preserve and pass on cassette-manufacturing technology.
The package includes a black-and-silver index card with writing space, plus one writable index sticker. You can give your mix a title and note the track order.
