SNACK: 3-line summary
- The original 2005 English EX Deoxys Rayquaza Star attacks each opposing Pokémon-ex with Holy Star.
- The printed 100 damage applies to each target, including Benched Pokémon-ex.
- Rayquaza discards all attached Energy, including any beyond the attack’s requirements.
Holy Star’s printed effect on the original 2005 English EX Deoxys Rayquaza Star 107/107 trades all its attached Energy for 100 damage to each opposing Pokémon-ex. That includes Pokémon-ex on the Bench; the 100 damage is not a single total divided among targets.
Snackgirls react
Red: I’d want a follow-up ready before firing Holy Star. If every attached Energy card is going, I want that turn to count.
Nea: The black Rayquaza and its yellow markings make me want to linger over the artwork. Then that tiny “-ex” draws me back to the text—it defines who Holy Star can reach.
The Bench is included, but only Pokémon-ex
An opposing Active Pokémon is a target only if it is Pokémon-ex, and the same condition applies to each Pokémon on the opponent’s Bench. Holy Star does not hit ordinary opposing Pokémon or target your own Bench.
For Benched Pokémon, the card specifically says not to apply Weakness or Resistance.
Extra Energy goes too
Holy Star requires two Fire and two Lightning Energy. Any extra Energy cards attached to Rayquaza Star are also discarded, so the printed effect leaves it with no Energy attached.
The black Rayquaza on the card
Masakazu Fukuda’s illustration shows Rayquaza with a black body and yellow markings against blue-toned surroundings. The Star name identifies this 107/107 card, distinct from the set’s separate Rayquaza ex 102.
