Google announced Fitbit Edge on October 12, 2026, with a screen for checking workout stats and built-in GPS for recording routes without carrying a phone. Its modular interior and replaceable battery also make it the first repairable Fitbit tracker, according to Google—though that does not establish a do-it-yourself repair option.

Snackgirls react
AIKO: I’d like to see how the battery fits into the modular layout. Small device, big maintenance question: who will handle the replacement?
Nea: I’d like to try a hilly walk without carrying my phone for GPS. I’m curious which little climbs would stand out in the elevation record.
Routes and workout stats on your wrist
Fitbit Edge measures 11.5 mm thick and has a Hybrid OLED display and a physical side button. You can manually start more than 50 exercise modes from your wrist, with views for pace, heart-rate zones and track splits.
Built-in GPS records your route without needing your phone, while an altimeter tracks elevation changes. The device also supports Google Maps, media controls, and call and message notifications.
Upgraded automatic activity logging is due later in October. Qualifying workouts need a sustained elevated heart rate and must meet a configurable minimum duration—15 minutes by default—with a summary typically sent to the app within 30 minutes.

Up to a week, but not under every setting
Google’s estimate of up to seven days comes from 2026 testing on pre-production hardware and software, using default Battery Saver settings and a median-user usage profile. Enabled features, usage and environment can reduce actual runtime; it is not a promise of seven days with continuous GPS.
The modular internal design and replaceable battery are a first for a Fitbit tracker, Google says. The announcement does not specify a customer replacement procedure, repair costs or where repairs will be available.

What Google has announced for October 27
The standard Fitbit Edge is priced at US$179.99, with preorders through the Google Store and retail partners and an announced October 27 on-sale date. Sales plans for South Korea and Japan have not been announced.
It works with most phones running Android 11 or later or iOS 16.4 or later. A Google Account, the Google Health app and an internet connection are required.
Google says an Edge purchase includes three months of Google Health Premium. Some features require that otherwise separately sold subscription, and feature availability varies by country and device.
