Apple announced HomePod mini 2 on October 13, 2026, with a new four-speaker surround option. That home-theater setup requires Apple TV 4K (4th generation) and four compatible HomePod speakers. You can also use the mini 2 on its own, in a stereo pair or for multiroom audio.

Red I want to try an action game with that rear pair behind me. Would I catch myself turning toward a sound mid-fight?
Nea I’d like to see how Sound Glow turns an OST cover’s colors into light. I might spend a while choosing which soundtrack artwork to try first.
Front and rear need matching pairs
Each pair can use HomePod mini 2 or HomePod (2nd generation), with matching models at the front and matching models at the rear. The two pairs can be different: one supported arrangement puts two HomePod (2nd generation) speakers in front and two HomePod mini 2 speakers behind the seating area.
The original HomePod mini isn’t supported, and the Apple TV must run the latest operating system software. The Apple TV and all four speakers are sold separately.
Apple says the system recognizes each speaker’s position and automatically calibrates audio timing and levels for the room. For music playback, Apple says the S10 chip analyzes tracks in real time to adjust dynamic range, loudness and acoustic performance.

Album colors on top, Mac audio at the desk
HomePod mini 2 comes in pink, green, blue, white and midnight. According to Apple, Sound Glow makes the top light pulse with the music’s bass and treble, using the playing album’s artwork to choose its colors. Voice control for Sound Glow requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone running the latest software.
The mini 2 can also serve as a Mac’s default speaker, either individually or as a stereo pair. This works only with Macs that have Wi-Fi 6E or later—not every Mac.

October 30 launch and Siri AI update plans
Preorders opened on October 13 in the U.S. and more than 23 other countries and regions, with availability beginning October 30. The U.S. price is $149 for one HomePod mini 2. In Japan, preorders are also open, with an October 30 release and a price of ¥24,800.
Apple says Siri AI will arrive in a future free software update, initially in English in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK.
To enable Siri AI, the home owner listed in the Home app must have an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad running the latest software, with Siri AI turned on and set to a supported language.
