Yamaha announced Japanese launches for the WXA-70A streaming amplifier and WXC-70A streamer on October 14, 2026. The two 220 mm-wide boxes bring network music and compatible TV audio into a stereo setup, but only the WXA-70A can power passive speakers. The WXC-70A connects to an external amplifier or powered speakers instead.

Red Those rear speaker terminals make me want to peek inside the WXA-70A. How did Yamaha fit the amp into such a small box?
Nea I’d like to listen to a game soundtrack quietly in the evening. I’m curious how YPAO’s room correction and YPAO Volume would affect the balance in my room.
Choose by the speakers and amplifier you already have
Passive speakers need an amplifier to power them. The WXA-70A includes that amplification, so you add a suitable pair of passive speakers to build your system. It does not have built-in speakers.
The WXC-70A has no power amplification and cannot drive passive speakers directly. Its preamp mode connects to a power amplifier or powered speakers and lets the WXC-70A control volume. In player mode, its output volume is fixed, leaving volume control to your existing integrated amplifier.
Both models support MusicCast through the MusicCast CONTROLLER app, along with AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect and Roon Ready. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also supported.

TV audio, room correction and the rear-panel connections
Both models have an HDMI eARC input. Connect a compatible TV with an HDMI cable, and its audio can play through the connected stereo system. Yamaha says Dialogue Level adjustment raises voices and dialogue; these remain stereo components, not multichannel AV receivers.
The included microphone measures the room and speaker response for YPAO sound correction. YPAO-R.S.C. targets early reflections, while YPAO Volume adjusts the tonal balance for low-volume listening.
Both have optical, analog RCA and HDMI inputs, plus USB-A for USB memory. The WXA-70A has speaker terminals and a subwoofer pre-out. The WXC-70A instead provides RCA analog pre-outs, optical and coaxial digital outputs, and a subwoofer pre-out.

Japan gets the amplifier first, then the streamer
In Japan, the WXA-70A is scheduled for late November 2026 at a tax-inclusive suggested retail price of ¥220,000. The WXC-70A follows in mid-December 2026 at ¥165,000, also including tax. Both models come in black or silver.
Qobuz Connect support is planned via a firmware update. Before ordering, check whether your speakers need amplification, which inputs your existing amplifier accepts, and whether your TV supports HDMI eARC.
