SNACK: 3-line summary
- The original English Neo Genesis Sneasel 25/111 includes itself in Beat Up’s coin count.
- Beat Up counts your Pokémon in play, including your Bench, but never your opponent’s Pokémon.
- Fury Swipes is a separate attack that always flips three coins, regardless of your Pokémon count.
When reading Beat Up on the original English Neo Genesis Sneasel 25/111, start counting with the attacking Sneasel itself. The printed phrase “including this one” matters: your Benched Pokémon supply only part of the coin count.
Snackgirls react
Kirari: That dark silhouette and those sharp claws would get me looking at the artwork first! I’d want a closer look at the claw shapes.
Nea: I like that tiny “including this one.” It makes me wonder how different Beat Up would feel as your own Pokémon gather on the board.
Beat Up counts your whole side of the board
Beat Up costs two Darkness Energy. Its instruction reads: “Flip a coin for each of your Pokémon in play (including this one).” Count your attacking Sneasel and your Benched Pokémon; leave your opponent’s Pokémon out.
The number of flips therefore changes with how many Pokémon you have in play. The printed 20× means 20 damage times the number of heads. It is a damage calculation in the attack text, not a promise of an unmodified final damage total.
Fury Swipes keeps its three-coin instruction
Fury Swipes is a separate attack costing one Colorless Energy. It says “Flip 3 coins” and is printed as 10×: 10 damage times the number of heads.
Having more Pokémon in play does not give Fury Swipes extra flips. Keep the two attacks’ instructions separate rather than adding their costs or coin counts together. Neither attack guarantees a heads result.
