SNACK: 3-line summary
- English Base Set Computer Search (71/102) lets you choose any one card from your deck.
- You must first discard two other cards from your hand, not counting Computer Search itself.
- Put the chosen card into your hand—not straight into play—then shuffle your deck.
The original English Base Set Computer Search (71/102) lets you find a specific card instead of hoping to draw it. That search requires you to discard two other cards from your hand first. This Trainer card was illustrated by Keiji Kinebuchi.

Snackgirls react
Kirari: I’d go straight for the card I’ve been hoping to draw. Getting to choose it myself is what catches my eye!
Nea: I like how much choice this older card fits into so little text. I’d probably pause longest over which two cards I could bear to give up.
Any card in your deck, straight into your hand
The printed wording says “any card,” so your choice can be a Pokémon, Trainer or Energy. You select one card from your own deck and put it into your hand. A chosen Pokémon does not go directly onto the field, and a chosen Energy is not attached by this effect.
Two other hand cards first, a shuffle afterward
The two discarded cards come from your hand, not your deck, and Computer Search itself is not one of them. Discard those two before searching. Once the selected card is in your hand, shuffle your deck.
