Snackgirls react

Red A big desk knob and an A/B switch? I’d want to set up two speaker systems and hear what changes when I press that button.

Nea I’d like to settle in with a favorite game soundtrack and those 22cm-tall speakers close by. A small nearfield listening corner sounds appealing.

A smaller cabinet, with the amplifier inside

The MASSIVE 3 measures 145.5mm wide, 140mm deep and 220mm tall. For comparison, the larger MASSIVE 5 is 190mm wide, 203mm deep and 295mm tall.

Both models have built-in Class D amplification, so they do not need a separate power amplifier. Black and white finishes are available for each.

What the side-mounted passive radiators do

The MASSIVE 3 combines a 3.5-inch woofer for lower frequencies with a 40mm AMT ribbon tweeter for the treble. Two 3.5-inch passive radiators, one on each side, use sandwich-honeycomb construction. These move with the air inside the cabinet to help reproduce bass; they are not additional powered woofers.

Epicon adds a desk knob and A/B speaker switching

The optional, separately sold Epicon monitor controller accepts line, optical digital, USB-C and Bluetooth inputs. Its Bluetooth 5.3 connection supports the SBC codec.

A large rotary knob with a push switch works alongside an LED display for volume adjustment and input selection. The A/B button switches between two speaker systems, making it easier to compare them from the desk.

Launching on November 6, the MASSIVE 3 has an estimated Japanese price of around ¥55,000 per pair, while the separate Epicon controller is expected to cost around ¥39,600. The MASSIVE 5 is scheduled for this winter at an estimated ¥88,000 per pair.
