SNACK: 3-line summary
- Google has announced automatic Android photo and video backup to Windows using Quick Share.
- Automatic backups could spare users from selecting and sending each batch of photos and videos by hand.
- The release-note listing does not mean the feature is already available on every device.
Google listed automatic Android photo and video backup to Windows through Quick Share in its November 2, 2026 release notes for Google Play services v26.43. The listing does not mean everyone can use the feature yet.

Snackgirls react
AIKO: A Send button makes the trigger obvious. I’m curious what will trigger an automatic backup—and how much control we’ll have over it.
Nea: Once it’s available, I’d like to gather my game screenshots and art-book photos on my PC. It would be nice to linger over the little design details on a larger screen.
From selecting files to automatic backups
Quick Share already supports manual transfers between Android and Windows. The addition of automatic photo and video backup could save users from repeating that selection-and-send process whenever they want another batch copied to their PC.
The version number belongs to Google Play services, separate from Android’s monthly security patch and Google Play system updates. Google has not detailed the backup setup process, eligible devices or exact availability.

A choice when imported credentials conflict
The same Play services release lets Google Password Manager users choose which passwords or passkeys to keep when an import produces conflicting entries. Separately, Google Play Store v53.9, also dated November 2, adds a reminder on phones and PCs if Play Protect has stayed off for a while.
Where to check for service updates
9to5Google points to Settings → Google services → All services → Privacy & security → System services to check for updates. On Pixel phones, tap your account name at the top of Settings to reach Google services; the route can differ on other devices.
This menu is for service updates, not backup setup, and installing an update does not guarantee access to the new feature. As 9to5Google cautions, features listed in the changelog can take months to become widely available.
